October 19th – 25th
Red Flight 18
2014 Teso La Monja – Tempranillo "Almirez" – Toro, Spain
This rich red is plush yet graceful, delivering expressive flavors of raspberry, cherry, cola and toast, supported by well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity. Big yet balanced, in the modern style.
2014 Ch. Haut-Peyrillat – AOC Graves – Bordeaux, France
Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvigno and 10% Cabernet Franc that is fermented and aged in concrete vats. Shockingly good for a Bordeaux at this price.
2013 Jeff Cohn Cellars – Smoke & Mirrors – California
Rhône-centric blend of Syrah, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, Grenache and Alicante Bouchet. Fruit forward and ready to drink as soon as it hits the bottle.
Autumn White Flight 15
2016 Idlewild – Rosé – Mendocino, Ca
Unusual blend of 51% Dolcetto, 25% Nebbiolo and 24% Barbera. The wine is a fairly deep rosé color and offers up a fairly complex nose of cherry skin, woodsmoke, a touch of blood orange.
2015 Chateau Guiraud – Blanc Sec – Bordeaux, France
Offers nectarine fruit on the nose that needs just a little more delineation. The palate is crisp and fresh with plenty of citrus fruit, dried pineapple and green apples on the energetic finish.
2015 Alexander Smith – Chardonnay – Santa Lucia, Ca
Produced from entirely Old Dijon clone chardonnay grapes planted in the 1970's from their Home Ranch vineyards. Full and rich with Old World balance.
