The dreamchild of husband-and-wife Chris and Jessica Castillo, this rustic downtown Fullerton hideaway in a historic red-brick building is popular with the locals for its alluring combination of casual charm, good food and an excellent wine inventory. Weekly wine and beer flights are alway intelligently composed (and sometimes even humorous – there’s a Girl Scout cookie beer flight). She’s probably drinking a fine malbec, too, like the Swinto that I notice on the list here.

Why they’re No. 1: “We offer a comfort level here,” spokesman Matt Plum said. “It’s a cozy atmosphere, and we still have the same crew we hired four years ago.
